2021 Riesling, Kabinett, Graacher Himmelreich, Joh. Jos. Prüm, Mosel, Germany

There's the classic smoky/fumy Prüm style here and with a deep citrus core – deep but not particularly ripe, which seems like quite an achievement but easier in a great year for Kabinett. Juicy, rounded and caressing in texture even though it has that core of acidity. Deep and long, with something slightly savoury on the mouth-watering finish. Reductive smoke and a little funk cloud the nose of the 2021 Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett for now. Vivid freshness, however, is immediately apparent on the palate. The body speaks more of stone, with ripe yet lime-edged stone fruit already beckoning but still unfurling and pointing to depth with a little more texture.
